Owner, Psychotherapist

I  am m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselor with 15 years of experience. I have been working in mental health since 2003 after earning my Bachelor’s Degree from Purdue University in Consumer and Family Studies.  I began my career working specifically with children and adolescents.  I worked as a case manager providing wrap around services within the school system and in homes with families. Later I began working in an intensive day treatment program. Many of the youth I worked with struggled with severe behavioral issues, mood disorders, and substance abuse issues.  In 2007 I received my Master's Degree in Social Work from Indiana University with a specialization in mental health and addictions. After earning my MSW I began to facilitate an Intensive Outpatient Program and aftercare services with a focus in addictions.  I then began to work in crisis management and triage assessment for individuals with mental health and/or addictions issues in the VA system. I I have continued to work at the VA as an outpatient mental health therapist or social worker.  I founded M. & S. Counseling Services in 2011 and have provided therapy for individuals in this private practice setting since its opening.

With my various experience I specialize in women’s issues, trauma,  adolescent issues, substance  use  disorders, and mood disorders.  My personal style can be described as warm, encouraging, and connected.  I  am down  to earth and find humor as a helpful way to connect.  It is very important to me that my clients feel supported, understood, and motivated by the therapy process. I’m proud to provide quality services and own a therapy practice that fosters positive change of those we work with and serve.  I have been trained in many different evidence-based treatment modalities and/or programs which include EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Cognitive Processing Therapy,  CBT for Depression, Prime for Life, and I am a Certified QPR Instructor.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and am passionate about supporting the processes which allow others to discover and embrace their true worth with hope, courage, and perseverance. I graduated with degrees in Social Work from the University of Indianapolis and Indiana University. I have been in the field of Social Work since 2008 working with adolescents and adults with mental health and substance dependence. I provide individual and family therapy working with children, adolescents, and adults.

Life can present challenges and leave us with a sense of unworthiness. This can often that leave us feeling lost and discouraged. I operate through the unwavering belief that nobody deserves to be alone in their experiences - especially in struggle. Hope is constant and it exists in your story. I do not believe people are defined by their struggles and I look at the whole person inside.

I have tremendous respect for the courage required to understand yourself and navigate this process. I believe in the therapeutic process and recognize the courage and patience it requires to allow change to integrate past behaviors and into your emotions and the way in which you live your life.
