I am m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselor with 15 years of experience. I have been working in mental health since 2003 after earning my Bachelor’s Degree from Purdue University in Consumer and Family Studies. I began my career working specifically with children and adolescents. I worked as a case manager providing wrap around services within the school system and in homes with families. Later I began working in an intensive day treatment program. Many of the youth I worked with struggled with severe behavioral issues, mood disorders, and substance abuse issues. In 2007 I received my Master's Degree in Social Work from Indiana University with a specialization in mental health and addictions. After earning my MSW I began to facilitate an Intensive Outpatient Program and aftercare services with a focus in addictions. I then began to work in crisis management and triage assessment for individuals with mental health and/or addictions issues in the VA system. I worked at the VA as an outpatient mental health therapist or social worker for over 12 years. I founded M. & S. Counseling Services in 2011 and have provided therapy for individuals in this private practice setting since its opening. With my various experience I specialize in women’s issues, trauma, substance use issues, mood disorders, and personal growth.
My personal style can be described as warm, encouraging, and connected. I am down to earth and find humor as a helpful way to connect. It is very important to me that my clients feel supported, understood, and motivated by the therapy process. I’m proud to provide quality services and own a therapy practice that fosters positive change I have been trained in many different evidence-based treatment modalities and/or programs which include EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Cognitive Processing Therapy, CBT for Depression, Prime for Life, and I am a Certified QPR Instructor.
